Overview
This post gives a guide on how to edit a PDF on Windows PC. To view PDF documents by default, Windows 10 suggests using the Microsoft Edge browser. It does the job, but if the way it does it doesn’t suit you or you think it lacks functionality, you can try Xodo PDF Reader & Editor – a universal application that allows you to both view and edit PDF files in Windows 10. The functionality of the application can be conditionally divided into main and additional.
Features of Xodo PDF Reader & Editor
The main ones include zooming, multiple scrolling methods, text search, opening several PDF documents in separate tabs, quick access to previously viewed files, automatic memory of the place where reading was interrupted, and the ability to switch between four different reading modes.
If desired, the user can change the way pages are arranged on the screen, switch between vertical and horizontal scrolling, enable and disable night mode.
Editing PDF Documents
Additional functionality provides for the most part editing and annotation capabilities. These include:
- Adding annotations
- Bookmarks
- Drawing
- Filling out forms
- Highlighting text with markers
- Underlining.
Separately, it is worth noting the function of reading text by voice using the regular voice engine of Windows 10.
The built-in Xodo PDF Reader & Editor allows you to add arbitrary text to pages, indicating arrows, simple geometric shapes, and so-called signatures or signatures – objects drawn by the user ahead of time.
The application editor supports removing individual pages from a multipage document, rotating them at an angle of 90 degrees in different directions, and saving them as separate PDF files.
But the Xodo PDF Reader & Editor itself cannot edit the text itself, and this is the main drawback of the program. For the sake of fairness, it should be noted that it is almost impossible to edit the text in a PDF document, it can only be in some professional software packages. Usually, they use text recognition with a program like FineReader, make a new document based on it, and there they already edit everything to their heart’s content.
Having understood how to edit a PDF on Windows PC, you can download the app for free from the Windows Store. There are no built-in ads, or additional purchases too, but there are versions for Windows 8.1 and other operating systems.
